About Garrett.
Charles and Eleanor Garrett founded the company in 1964 in their home garage in Garland, Texas. From a start on a slim budget grew one of the world's leading manufacturers of metal detectors. The founders' demand for precision and attention to detail shapes the manufacturing to this day.
The security division builds walk-through detectors and hand-held metal detectors. They screen at airports, in courts, correctional facilities and stadiums around the world. Since 1984, Garrett detectors have been part of the security equipment of the Olympic Games.
Manufacturing takes place in the USA to ISO 9001. Alongside the security technology, Garrett develops sport detectors for treasure hunting. Added to this are countermine and CSI technology, for instance for humanitarian demining and forensic evidence recovery.
