For forensic evidence recovery, one ability counts above all. The detector has to find small metallic targets such as projectiles or casings, and do so where the ground is full of interfering scrap. The Garrett Vortex CSI is built for this, lightweight, with a built-in battery and quick to learn.

Suited to difficult search environments

In densely populated areas full of metal waste, the Vortex CSI plays to its strength. Its Bullets mode is designed specifically to recover lead projectiles and casings made of brass or copper, and masks common ferrous clutter out of the alarm tone. The multi-frequency analysis keeps target identification precise even on heavily mineralised ground, and an optional compact search coil reaches tight spots full of iron clutter.

The requirements depend on the location

Which search mode fits is decided by the location. Five programs cover the range, from searching open ground through targeted ammunition recovery to the beach. Eight sensitivity levels and the notch discrimination let you set the device to the target. If the search is to go into the water as well, the device stays fully submersible to five metres, and the dive mode locks the buttons.

For recovery in salt and fresh water, the Vortex CSI comes with a Beach mode with multi-frequency salt operation, which keeps performance and target identification stable even in salt water. So you recover evidence on land and in shallow water and pinpoint individual targets without being slowed down by general metal scrap.
