VMI Spectrum 6040: high-resolution X-ray scanner for high baggage volume
The VMI Spectrum 6040 is the standard for high-volume checkpoints. 160 kV generator, automatic detection algorithms for drugs, explosives and high-density materials. Tunnel 62,0 x 42,4 cm for hand luggage, backpacks and smaller parcels, around 495 kg, at about 88 cm wide it is compact enough for entrance areas. The large tunnel takes backpacks without repacking, and combined with a Garrett walk-through detector it becomes a screening lane.
The software detects drugs, explosives and high-density materials through automatic detection algorithms. Via ONVIF the scanner integrates into existing security networks, and WiFi extends data transmission. The system stores images automatically and exports them encrypted through a VMI application.
The X-ray unit is cooled by an insulating oil bath with forced-air cooling for continuous operation, and the L-shaped detectors work in dual mode with effective atomic number, which sharpens material separation beyond density alone.
The 70-centimeter belt height keeps loading ergonomic. Among DTI customers, the Spectrum 6040 runs wherever high baggage volume is screened, from airports to correctional facilities to parcel services.

Throughput
Twice the belt load of the compact C.
The Spectrum 6040 carries heavy luggage and parcels in a continuous flow, while the compact 6040 C remains the choice for existing buildings with narrow doors.
42 millimeters of steel, 40 AWG wire.
The 160 kV generator penetrates 42 millimeters of steel and resolves wires down to 40 AWG, measured with the VMI test piece. Automatic algorithms flag drugs, explosives and high-density materials.
The standard for checkpoints with volume.
The 62,0 x 42,4 centimeter tunnel takes hand luggage and parcels in a continuous flow, and at an outer length of just under two meters the scanner fits into existing checkpoints.
Color monitor as needed.
The high-resolution color monitor is configurable in size, and optionally two 21-inch monitors work side by side.
Safe for people and material.
Film-safe up to ISO 1600, the dose rate stays below 1 µSv/h at 0,1 meters from the unit.
165 kilograms on the belt.
The conveyor carries 165 kilograms and runs configurably at 0,24 meters per second through the screening flow.
